The hardware consists of a small shuttle chassis, a 40GB Intel SSD, an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.asus.com\/product.aspx?P_ID=iHWm73RqE6MCmCtw&amp;templete=2\">ASUS AT3IONT-I Deluxe<\/a> motherboard and a WinTV-NOVA-TD USB stick.<\/p>\n<p>Actually, the USB stick resides in a seriously underpowered backend machine which serves as my home server. The frontend\/backend does work reliably though &#8211; even over WLAN.<\/p>\n<p>The idea is not to use the box as a receiver, but rather a media player. Output will be HDMI for both sound and video.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Picture, HD acceleration and such works out of the box.<\/li>\n<li>Building the <a href=\"http:\/\/github.com\/TommyPersson\/MythSvtPlay\">SVT Play plugin<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/rtmpdump.mplayerhq.hu\/\">RTMPDUMP<\/a> worked.<\/li>\n<li>Sound required a ~\/.asoundrc file directing the sound to the correct SPDIF. I also unmuted all SPDIFs using alsamixer.<\/li>\n<li>The remote is configured so that most buttons make sense. Installed the drivers from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ubuntuforums.org\/showpost.php?p=9293063&amp;postcount=12\">here<\/a> to get the remote to work as a keyboard device. I also had to <a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.archlinux.org\/index.php\/ASUS_AT3IONT-I\">blacklist the mceusb driver<\/a> after having upgraded to Mythbuntu 11.04.<\/li>\n<li>Employed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youplala.net\/linux\/home-theater-pc#toc-not-losing-one-of-the-nova-t-500s-tuners\">this trick<\/a> to fix the issues that I have with my WinTV dual-tuner USB stic. It looks promising.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Left to do:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Need to ensure that I can play media directly from a USB stick. The <a href=\"http:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/mythadder\/\">mythadder<\/a> script looks like a promising starting point. <em>Does not work &#8211; yet.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Investigate integrating <a href=\"http:\/\/developer.spotify.com\/en\/libspotify\/overview\/\">Spotify<\/a> into MythTV.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m building a HTPC based on Mythbuntu.
